To minimise disruption when UK REACH came into force, the UK government enacted transitional ‘Grandfathering’ submissions and Downstream User Import Notification (DUINs). However, from 28 October 2021, new or complete registrations will be required 2, 4 or 6 years from this date, depending on the relevant criteria. These registrations will need to contain or cite existing data, much of it generated for EU REACH.

Meet the presenter

Dr John Albaya is a Chemistry & REACH Consultant. As a chemist, he advises clients on the identity and physicochemical data requirements in the different regulatory areas. John also works on REACH projects which includes consortium management and registration dossiers. John has a Master’s degree and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield.

Christoph Katz is a Senior Advisor with a broad global experience in chemicals, energy and resources, engineering plastics, composites as well as food & beverage ingredients. Prior to joining EPPA, Christoph held international leadership positions in the chemical industry for more than 20 years. Through actively managing public policy interfaces to the business (e.g. regulation of products, trade agreements and defence), Christoph has developed a deep understanding of the interdependency of these two areas – and the importance of managing these processes and interfaces well in order to have a good position in innovation and competitiveness, and ultimately business success.
