CDFA’s Healthy Soils Program

July 10, 2017

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is requesting public comments on the Requests for Grant Application (RGA) for the $6.75 million dollars Healthy Soils Program (HSP).

HSP provides grants to farmers and ranchers who work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve their soil in efforts to fight climate change. This program is included in California’s Cap and Trade initiative, which provides funding to projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the state’s economy, and improving public health and environment. Cap and Trade is working to curb the effects of carbon pollution and help the state achieve the goals of AB 32.

CDFA has outlined proposed dates under HSP to inform farmers, stakeholders, and residents of important dates and deadlines for grant applications, proposal evaluations, and project implementation.
