Health Canada announces list of hard surface disinfectants for use against coronavirus (COVID-19)

April 02, 2020

The Canadian government has announced new health and safety measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as how they will try to limit the spread of the virus in Canada.

The announcement includes a list of approved disinfectants for use against coronavirus (COVID-19) in Canada. This list will be updated regularly to include additional products as more information becomes available.

To determine if a disinfectant meets Health Canada’s requirements, locate the drug identification number (DIN) on the product label and cross check it with the list linked here.

Manufacturers and distributors who have approved anti-viral claims may make indirect efficacy claims for SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Through this process Canada is also allowing for the expedited registration of disinfectants. Visit the Health Canada to learn if your company qualifies for the measures laid out in the guidance for expedited review.
