Health Canada Proposes Fee Updates

October 25, 2017

One of Health Canada’s responsibilities is the regulation and evaluation of health products prior to their authorization for sale. These various regulatory services come with fees that registrants are required to pay. Due to a recent screening of current department costs, Health Canada has proposed to update its fee structure.

In Budget 2017, the Canadian Government outlined that “businesses should pay their fair share for the services the Government provides.” The changes in fees are accompanied by Health Canada’s new authority to withdraw or withhold support or approval if fees are not paid.
