Pesticide Label Matching Application (4/4/17)

The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) requires that all pesticides gain approval by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) before entering the marketplace. Misbranded pesticides can lead to unsafe and ineffective use.

EPA is developing a mobile application that will improve the inspection process for pesticide labels. The Pesticide Label Matcher (PLM) will save a significant amount of time for pesticide label inspectors by providing convenient access to pesticide product data against which market labels can be compared. Officials can enter the EPA registration number and measure the product against the approved federal master label and/or provided materials in federal databases. This allows for increased efficiency and improved compliance rates as inspectors can gain information and make decisions more quickly.

EPA is interested in having federal and state personnel routinely involved with pesticide product inspections, as well as testing by pesticide registrants review the new application. Testing for the beta version will be open until May 31, 2017. Once testing is complete, PLM will be released for both iOS and Android devices. The application also features a web-based interface for desktop and laptop use.
