Safe Harbor Warning Language (4/20/17)

The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is administering new requirements for safe harbor warnings under Proposition 65. Under the new requirements, warnings may need to be translated into the appropriate language under the following conditions:

  • Consumer information for a consumer product is provided in a foreign language
  • Signs in a facility are presented in a foreign language

OEHHA has provided some translations on its website to be used as guidelines. These translations represent the Agency’s best efforts in replicating the warning content, however, some ambiguities may still exist. To ensure accuracy and thoroughness, businesses are recommended to seek translation and legal consultation.
