US EPA reorganizes Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention

September 18, 2020

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will reorganize the structure of its Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) at the end of September 2020.

The pending change in organizational structure affects the OCSPP’s three main offices: the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP), the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT), and the Office of Science Coordination and Policy.

Within the OPP, the antimicrobials division will change to better serve the demands of the coronavirus pandemic as well as future public health emergencies.

The OPPT will include new, separate risk evaluation and risk management branch divisions for existing chemicals work. A new division handling the risk assessment and risk management of new chemicals will also be created.
