We are seeking an experienced, committed individual with broad scientific knowledge and a detailed understanding of European regulatory requirements to join our Industrial and Speciality Chemicals’ team in either of our Knaresborough, Epsom or Harston offices. This role comprises provision of relevant REACH regulatory expertise and project management as a business driver for the company’s Industrial and Speciality Chemicals’ business. You will be someone with the skills and aptitude to strengthen and broaden the services offered, for example, but not limited to, REACH Registration, Authorisations, Notifications, Only Representative services and Compliance Assessments, and to support a growth strategy for the Industrial and Speciality Chemicals’ business.
As a Senior Regulatory Manager you will be someone who leads by example, with respect to customer service, company policies and professional behavior. In this senior role, acting as an extension of company management, you will also take an active role in developing new business opportunities and contributing to the retention of existing clients. Regular travel to the main office in Knaresborough and occasional travel to attend meetings or for marketing or business development purposes will be required. From time to time the role will require travel both within the UK and abroad for client meetings and on-going project management.
Key responsibilities include:
• Provision of general consultancy and REACH regulatory services
o You will provide general consultancy, regulatory and strategic advice, and advocacy to clients, and a peer review of TSG deliverables. You will be expected to apply specific expertise to REACH Authorisations, Notifications, Only Representative services and Compliance Assessments
• Project Management
o You will Project Manage multiple projects or programmes of work, applying your skills to effective client engagement within the framework of our business model
o Consortium Consultancy: In support of TSG’s REACH consortia you will advise on strategy and regulatory issues, and provide guidance and direction to help meet their regulatory requirements
• REACH Regulatory Specialist – you will participate actively in the Industrial and Speciality Chemicals’ team to collectively achieve the following:
You will be able to acquire, assimilate and understand the evolving REACH regulatory framework, legal instruments, guidance and role of key authorities in European and UK Chemical Regulation, and manage such information so that it is available as continual learning and development for your colleagues. Your communication skills and drive will facilitate ready dissemination of information, issues and developments by face-to-face meetings, discussion groups, presentations or written communications to both colleagues and clients
o Through your regulatory expertise you will be able to identify areas of regulatory development opportunity, or related resource issues, within our company and propose appropriate actions, coordinating the training of regulatory staff using internal training programmes or external options as appropriate
o Ideally you will be someone who enjoys conference attendance as an opportunity to consolidate knowledge, keep abreast of developments, and as an opening to meet existing or potential clients
• Business Development
o There is a commercial aspect to the role in as much as you will actively support the sales and marketing efforts, including the enquiry and quotation process, through working with our specialists and business development team in Europe to develop and expand the business
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant regulatory, scientific or research environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to plan workload effectively and react appropriately to situations as they arise
• The ability to work well under pressure both independently and as part of the team
• Computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets)
